EMER McDERMOTT

Clinical Psychologist

Emer completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree (Psychology and Geography) from the National University of Ireland Galway, a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology from Cardiff University, and a Masters of Psychological Research Methods from the Open University.

Emer went on to complete her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Trinity College Dublin, which entailed rotational training in various mental health settings and disability services across the lifespan, offering psychological assessment and intervention.

Emer enjoys the challenge of working with all ages including young children, teens, adults, older adults and those living with a disability and she has supported a broad range of clients presenting with a range of mental health, behavioural and emotional difficulties.

Emer uses an integrative approach with her clients; providing evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, compassion focussed therapy, solution focused therapy and mindfulness approaches. Emer has a wide range of experience she can incorporate into her work, depending on the client's needs.

In her time off, Emer enjoys travelling as much as possible. She also enjoys walking and is enjoying the warmer waters that Sydney has to offer for swimming.
