BRETT CARTER

BPsychSci (Hons), MClinPsych, AHPRA Board-Approved Supervisor

Clinical Psychologist

Brett is a dedicated clinical psychologist with a passion for supporting individuals through life’s challenges. He completed his Bachelor of Psychological Science Honours and Master of Clinical Psychology, and his extensive work in both government and private settings has enabled him to assist clients facing issues such as addictive behaviours, sport and peak performance concerns, stress, disordered eating, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and adjustment to spinal cord injury. Brett has also provided services for the Australian Institute of Sport and worked with current and former Australian Defence Force members as they navigate post‐traumatic stress, injury setbacks, and the transition to civilian life.

Brett employs an integrative and individualised approach to treatment, using a variety of techniques to help patients understand and shift default patterns of beliefs, expectations, and behaviours that influence their everyday functioning.

Brett took an unconventional path to psychology, starting his studies in his early thirties after years of extensive travel, working overseas, and a career as a professional triathlete. During his studies, he coached elite swimmers and surf ironmen and women at Bond University while also contributing to numerous physiological and psychological research projects. In his free time, Brett loves running with his dog and exploring topics in neuroscience, consciousness, and peak performance.
